Canon G7 X focusing issue - видео

In this video Im demonstrating what I believe is some sort of error or issue with the autofocus in my Canon G7 X. As you can see the camera focuses perfectly on a high contrast vertical line when in landscape orientation but when the camera is held in portrait orientation it refuses to focus on this line at all. This video is recorded on my Canon 70D with the Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 ART lens. EDIT: Talked to Canon RCC see details in my comment.,
