The helicopter impacted the Hudson near a landing site at West 30th Street shortly after refuelling there while repositioning. The pilot lost directional control at low forward speed. The emergency flotation system was deployed moments before impact. The pilot the sole occupant escaped from the helicopter was rescued by a NY Waterways ferry and received minor injuries. The helicopter was salvaged by the US Army Corps of Engineers vessel Hayward.,
